Met my good friend Larry for breakfast this morning at Duggar's Cafe. Wow! The food was awesome!

Tried tweaking this one from yesterday to give it more of a vintage look.

Took a little trip to The Durham Museum today. Lots of pictures today!

These statues depicting travellers during the stations heyday are scattered around.

Union Station. One of the first art deco style stations built in the US.

The trains are kept on the lower level.

They also have quite a collection of old vehicles and memorabilia. This is an old Bekins moving truck.

Since it was never used for high speed travel, it used a chain drive.

Two man rail drill.

Inside the pullman car. It's sad that we can't travel like this anymore.

First class on an airline? Pffffttt...THIS is first class travel!

The lounge car. Most trains also had a dining car. 

One of the washrooms.

This was a more economy level car. Still had fold down beds, and acres of leg room.

A private room. Complete with sink and fold down bed.

A single pritave room. The seat folds down into a bed.

Hmmmm...wonder what's under that little table in the corner?

Yup...it's a little toilet.

I have to say, appliances were way classier back in the day.

There was s special exhibit of artifacts from Egypt on display. Yes...that's a real mummy.

This was the mummy of a small girl. About 15-16 years old. Her name was unknown at the time of her death. She was mummified because she was found in the Nile. The river was sacred and anyone who drowned in the river took a piece of it to the netherworld. So the priests considered the bodies sacred and they were mummified.

That's a lot of levers, valves, and knobs!

Haven't been here in ages. I forget what a beautiful building it is.

So...big surprise...its raining again today. So I decided to edit one of the pictures I took yesterday. I played with some filters and tried to give it an old fashioned feel.
